The Gap in GLP-1 Care: Why Medication Alone Isn't the Whole Plan
A lot of people now take a GLP-1 medication like Ozempic or Wegovy. These medications quiet appetite well, and that creates a new problem: you eat a lot less, but your body still needs the same protein, fiber and nutrients it did before.
Less food usually means less protein and less fiber. Too little protein while you're losing weight can mean losing muscle along with fat, and too little fiber is hard on digestion.
Prescribers handle the medication. What you actually eat on a much smaller appetite is often left to you, and it's easy to default to whatever sounds good instead of what your body needs.
That's the gap. Medication handles appetite. Food has to handle nutrition.
Two Approaches: Coaching Support and Food-Based Support
Two kinds of programs have grown up around GLP-1 users.
Coaching platforms like Vida Health are built around digital health coaching, accountability and connection to care. The core of the model is behavior change: help people track what they do and keep at it.
Food-based plans like ours start somewhere else. We make the food. It's built around protein, fermentable fiber and smart fats to support your body's own GLP-1 response, and the day is structured around it. We aren't replacing medication or competing with it. We're covering the part of the plan medication doesn't.
So the comparison is a coaching program versus a food system. One works on behavior, the other on what's on your plate. Someone on a GLP-1 medication could use a coaching service, our food, or both. Someone who isn't on a medication can use our plan to support their own GLP-1 through food.
What We Built and Why the Ingredients Matter
GLP-1 is a hormone your gut releases after you eat. It tells your brain you're full, slows digestion and helps regulate blood sugar. Three parts of a meal do the most to prompt that release.
Protein prompts it directly, keeps you full longer than refined carbohydrates do, and helps you keep muscle while you eat less. Our daily target is about 90 g.
Fermentable fiber feeds the bacteria in your gut. They ferment it into short-chain fatty acids, which also prompt the gut cells that release GLP-1. Our daily target is about 30 g, introduced gradually over the first week.
Fat slows digestion and makes a smaller meal more satisfying.
Everything we make comes from our own certified, dedicated gluten-free kitchen in Georgetown, Texas. It's dairy-free, with no artificial ingredients, colors or preservatives.
What a Coaching Model Does Well, and Where It Stops

Coaching programs like Vida's are designed for remote support and accountability, and that has real value for people who do well with an ongoing coaching relationship. In general, a coaching model offers:
- Regular contact with a coach
- Digital tracking and accountability
- Guidance based on your own goals and data
Check any program's current offering directly, since features change.
What coaching can't do is put the food in front of you. A coach can tell you to eat more protein. You still have to plan it, buy it and make it, on an appetite that may not want much of anything. Our breakfast, snack and lunch arrive ready to eat, built around the protein and fiber targets.
That matters most when appetite is low. If you're only going to eat a little, every bite has to count, and it's hard to make that happen meal after meal on your own.
How a Food-Based Plan Helps GLP-1 Users
When appetite drops, you eat less by default, but you don't need fewer nutrients. Less food has to be better food.
We built the plan around that:
- Nutrient density over volume. The daily bundle supplies about 70 g of protein and about 30 g of fiber in an amount of food that suits a smaller appetite. Dinner brings protein up to about 90 g.
- Muscle. Getting enough protein is one of the best things you can do to hold on to muscle while you lose weight.
- Digestion. Fiber supports regular digestion when you're eating less overall. Go slowly with it in the first week; mild gas or bloating early on is normal and fades.
- Fullness. Protein, fiber and fat together help you stay satisfied between meals.
The aim is to lose weight without giving up muscle or running short on protein and fiber along the way.
Where the Food Is Made
We make our food in our own certified, dedicated gluten-free kitchen in Georgetown, Texas, because the details of a recipe matter when you're building food around specific protein and fiber targets.
What that means for you:
- Certified gluten-free, made in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen
- Dairy-free
- No artificial ingredients, colors or preservatives
- Control over our own recipes, so each muffin, cookie, bar and shake is made the same way every time
A coaching program can recommend better food, but it doesn't make the food. When your appetite is small and your targets are specific, knowing exactly what's in each item makes the targets much easier to hit.

What to Expect Over Four Weeks
A food-based plan works with your body's own systems instead of overriding them, so change tends to come steadily rather than all at once. Steady loss with enough protein is more likely to come from fat than from muscle, and more likely to last.
Week one is mostly about adjusting, especially to the fiber. Bring it up gradually and drink plenty of water. Over the following weeks, the rules stay simple: don't skip breakfast, use the cookie as a craving-killer rather than dessert, and hit your protein number even if you skip a meal. Sleep and light activity add to what the food is doing.
The scale tells you only part of the story. Our One Month Health Reset includes a Hume Body Pod, a body-composition scale, with weekly body-composition check-ins, so you can see whether you're losing fat and keeping muscle.
Options That Fit Your Life: Single Products or the Full Plan
Not everyone wants the full plan.
The Weekly GLP-1 Protocol bundle covers breakfast, a snack and lunch every day: 7 Blueberry Muffins, 7 Chocolate Chip Cookies, 7 Meal Replacement Bars and 7 servings of Vanilla Protein Shake. That takes the daily decisions off your plate for three meals. Dinner is the one you make: lean protein and non-starchy vegetables, aiming for 30 to 40 g of protein.
You can also start with a single product, like our GLP-1 Blueberry Muffins, and handle the rest of the day yourself.
Subscriptions can be paused, skipped, swapped or cancelled, so you're not locked into one choice.
What You're Paying For
Food built around specific targets costs more than ordinary groceries. Here's what that buys you:
Time. Breakfast, a snack and lunch are portioned and ready, so there's no planning, shopping or guessing whether you hit your numbers for those meals.

Predictability. Getting about 90 g of protein and about 30 g of fiber a day from whatever's in the fridge is hard, especially on a small appetite. The bundle covers most of it.
Muscle. Keeping the muscle you have is easier than rebuilding it later.
If you're on a GLP-1 medication, the medication is only part of the picture. The food around it decides whether you're getting enough protein and fiber while you eat less.
Why the Plan Works With or Without a GLP-1 Medication
We designed the plan for two groups whose nutrition needs look a lot alike.
People on a GLP-1 medication need enough protein and fiber while their appetite is low. For them, our food works alongside the medication and helps with protein intake and muscle. Decisions about the medication itself belong with your doctor.
People who aren't on a medication want to support their appetite through food. For them, the plan supports the body's own GLP-1 response with protein, fermentable fiber and smart fats.
Both groups share the same targets:
- About 90 g of protein a day
- About 30 g of fermentable fiber a day
- 1,300 to 1,500 calories
- 80 or more ounces of water
The food and the targets are the same. What changes is what you're asking the plan to do.
Getting Started
Start with where you are now.
If you're on a GLP-1 medication and struggling to eat enough protein, the full weekly bundle is the simplest place to begin, since it covers three meals a day.
If you want to support your appetite through food without medication, the full plan is also the best test. Give it four weeks before you judge how your hunger and energy have changed.
If you're happy with your current routine and just want help at one meal, start with a single product, like the muffin for breakfast.
Whichever you choose, pay attention to how you feel, how your hunger changes and how your energy holds up, along with the scale. Your body already knows how to signal fullness. Our job is to give it the protein, fiber and structure to do that well.
